“Imaginary World Music” is the name I’ve given to the genre that I feel describes my guitar tunes. Growing up in a household that revered authentic folk music from around the world, I grew to love ethnomusicologists’ field recordings of native (and naive) musicians on Folkways, Arhoolie, Hungaroton, and the like. Though I’ve had periodic bouts of toxic perfectionism, I keep returning to the fantasy of playing and recording the folk music of a parallel world, glitches and all.
