I had a dream,
I had a dream last night.
I dreamed it was all over,
and everyone was all right.
And all the streets of fear
Were opened to light,
and all the chambers of darkness
were opened to sight.
And all our children stayed with us,
We gave them everything the need.

I took a bus,
I took a bus downtown.
Everyone was embracing
and shaking hands all around.
All the windows were open,
No thieves in the night,
And we looked at each other,
and said everything’s gonna be alright.
And everyone was so relieved,
it could not be believed.

I took a walk down the avenue,
It smelled so sweet.
All the killers and the junkies
Could not believe that they were free.
And the masters of war
had tears in their eyes.
And the multitude told them,
No need to apologize.
And everyone could truly see
No lasting damage anywhere.

I sat down,
I sat down on the riverbank.
I just shook my head,
and said thanks, thanks, thanks.
And the beasts of the field
came and sat by my side,
And the birds on the wing
got back their sky.
And all our sins burned away like mist
in this dream I hard last night.
