trespassing on broadway

I don’t have much to say
So I talk all the time.
I don’t own anything
So I treat everything as mine.
I’m not complaining when I sing out this song.
Just trying to tell you how I get along.

I don’t ask for much,
I like to be invited.
I don’t extend my hand,
There’s always someone there to bite it.
Pocket rich and pocket poor,
All are poor in spirit.
Why tell the truth,
No one’s there to hear it.

Trespassing on Broadway (3x)
The judge says you’re free
’til you’ve got something to say.

The sun sets in the west,
The own flies at night.
Ignorant armies on the shore
Can’t tell left from right.
Trauma poets in the square
Shouting for good money.
Bees making wax
But no honey.

Trespassing on Broadway (3x)
The judge says you’re free
’til freedom gets in your way.

The sun sets in the west.
I walk the edge of night.
Puppets and their puppeteers
Can’t tell wrong from right.
Everything is black and white
I hear everybody say.
All I see is gray.

Trespassing on Broadway (3x)
The judge says black and white.
I say gray.
